Mahindra Thar 2025 : Mahindra Thar 2025 has arrived as the most tech-loaded and lifestyle-focused version of the iconic off-roader, aimed squarely at buyers who want rugged capability with a more comfortable, connected and premium cabin experience.
The latest facelift keeps the butch 3-door stance and serious 4×4 hardware, but now pairs it with a bigger touchscreen, better ergonomics, rear AC vents and a sharper feature list, while prices still start under the psychological ₹10 lakh mark.
Updated price and variant lineup
The 2025 Thar facelift has been launched with prices starting at around ₹9.99 lakh and going up to roughly ₹16.99 lakh ex-showroom, depending on engine, gearbox and drive layout.
Buyers can choose between 4×2 and 4×4 versions, with three key engines on offer: a 1.5-litre diesel for the more affordable rear-wheel-drive variants, a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel for the higher-spec models.

Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic, and Mahindra continues to offer different trim levels to cater to lifestyle users, hardcore off-roaders and value-conscious buyers alike.
New high-tech features and interior upgrades
Inside, the biggest change for 2025 is a new 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, giving the Thar a much more modern feel than its earlier, simpler setup.
The dashboard has been reworked with a darker theme, a new steering wheel borrowed from Mahindra’s newer SUVs, door-mounted power window switches, and a sliding centre armrest with storage, making the cabin more ergonomic for daily use and long drives.
Rear AC vents have finally been added to improve second-row comfort, along with Type-C USB ports, an internally operated fuel-lid opener, and a rear washer and wiper, all of which address long-standing owner complaints about practicality and convenience.

Engines, performance and off-road ability
Mechanically, the Thar retains its proven engine portfolio, with the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol producing about 150 bhp and up to 320 Nm of torque, and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel generating around 130 bhp and 300 Nm, both available with manual and automatic transmissions.
The 1.5-litre diesel in the more affordable variants offers about 117 bhp and 300 Nm, paired to a 6-speed manual and rear-wheel drive, making it attractive for those who like the Thar’s image but don’t need full-time 4×4 hardware.
Key off-road specs remain impressive, with around 226 mm of ground clearance, a short 3-door body measuring roughly 3,985 mm in length, and approach, break-over and departure angles in the 41.2°, 26.2° and 36° range respectively, ensuring the SUV still tackles trails, ruts and rocks with ease.

Mahindra Thar 2025 Safety kit and tech-focused lifestyle appeal
On the safety front, the 2025 Thar continues to build on its 4-star Global NCAP rating with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, a built-in roll cage, hill-hold and hill-descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system and now a rear parking camera with guidelines.
New colour options like Tango Red and Battleship Grey, inspired by the Thar Roxx palette, plus 16- and 18-inch wheel choices, allow buyers to personalise their SUV’s look while still enjoying the rugged ladder-frame underpinnings.
With its refreshed design, richer feature list and still-aggressive pricing, the Mahindra Thar 2025 positions itself as a more liveable daily 4×4 that doesn’t compromise its adventurous character, making it a tempting option for both hardcore enthusiasts and urban lifestyle buyers.
